本年度は,位置情報や地理情報などの各種情報をネットワーク上の情報源と統合利用するための各種方式について開発を行った.特に以下の点を中心に研究開発を進めた.1.空間情報源統合のためのメタ情報記述方式とその利用方式の開発:ユーザの位置情報などに応じて情報を提供するような地図サービス・サーチエンジンやカーナビゲーションシステムなど,空間情報を提供する情報源や空間情報に依存した情報を提供する情報源が数多く現れてきている.本研究では,それらの空間情報源を統合活用するためのメタ情報記述方式の開発を行った.空間情報源が情報を提供する領域の情報や,空間情報源が処理できる空間問合せの種類などをメタ情報である情報源記述に記述しておき,問合せ処理においてはそれら情報源記述を用いて対象の空間情報源の選択や問合せプランの構築を実現する.2.配信型情報源を含む各種情報源の統合手法の開発:ネットワーク上のサービスの開発が現在急速に進んでおり,その中でもニュースや株価の配信などの配信型情報源が着目されている.従来の情報統合においてはデータベースなどの蓄積型の情報を統合の対象としてきたが,時々刻々と入手される配信型情報に関しては,データの入手に応じて能動的に統合処理を実行し,さらにその結果を配信するなどの処理が求められる.このような要求に基づき,本研究では配信型情報源に関する統合要求の記述方式と,統合要求記述から配信型情報源の性質に応じた統合・配信ルール生成方式の開発を行った.これについては論文誌・国際会議などにおいて発表を行っている.3.ユーザ定義の外部関数を含んだXML問合せ処理:XML(Extensible Markup Language)は各方面における情報の記述フォーマットとして利用が進んでおり,XMLデータベースを問合せする問合せ言語の開発も進められている.XMLによる情報記述が進んでいる地図情報や空間データでは,空間情報特有の処理が必要となるが,そのような分野固有の処理は通常のXML問合せ言語の基本機能としては含まれておらず,問合せの記述が容易ではなかった.そこで本研究では,ユーザ定義の外部関数を導入可能としたXML問合せ処理の研究を進めてきた.一つには,リレーショナルデータベース上のXMLビューに対して外部関数を導入した際の問合せ処理方式の開発を行った.また,XMLの問合せにおいてしばしば利用されるXPath問合せ言語に対してユーザ定義の外部関数を導入する方式についても開発を行った.これらの成果については研究会等において発表の予定である.
