We developed a new method to detect periodontal pathogens. PCR method is very useful for making periodontal treatment plan and decision of prognosis. DNA microarray is also useful to know state of periodontal disease. On the other hand, we developed useful diagnosis method for disease sensitivity. Fc γ receptor gene regulates the production of inflammatory cytokines. Fc γ receptor polymorphisms affect the host response to bacterial attack. Profile analysis of inflammatory related factors from tissues, saliva, or gingival crevicular fluids (GCF) is available for the development of new therapy. Glycosaminoglycan level in GCF correlated with alveolar bone resorption. The measurement of calprotectin from GCF is associated with the activity of periodonttitis. Moreover we identified that volatile sulfer compound of expiration is closely correlated with periodontal disease. We developed a new method to detect traumatic occlusion using tooth fixation. To examine the effect of periodontitis for the body, we identified that high sensitivity CRP is very useful.
