Kabuki texts may be classified into two groups. Those in the first group were found in the rental bookstores of the Edo period, and those in the other were found in the libraries in the Kabuki theatres. This research aims at the comparison of those two groups in hopes to shed light onto the history of Kabuki texts.One most well known rental bookstores named Daiso which had many volumes of the Kabuki texts was in Nagoya area. It has been said that those text books were especially hand-copied (as was the case with all the books in those days) for the rental purpose. In this research, a special attention was given to the handwriting of the texts, and an investigation was conducted to arrive at the former owners of these texts. In the course of the investigation, it was discovered that some of the texts in the theatres somehow found their ways into the rental stores.Out of the volumes of text books, those which carried the signature of Sime proved to be most promising in determining the former owner. I am, however, still unable to pinpoint the owner. On the other hand, I am getting bits and pieces of new information such as letters and memos, concening the signature holder. I hope to come up with a new perspective about classification and properties of the theatrical texts of Kabuki.Furthermore, this research revealed the possibility of pinpointing when some of the texts came into the world. One typical discovery was to have come up with the oldest existing text of Kanadehonchusingura, and to know the period when it was handwritten.

歌舞伎文本可以分为两类。第一组是在江户时代的出租书店里找到的，另一组是在歌舞伎剧院的图书馆里找到的。本研究的目的是比较这两个群体，希望能对歌舞伎文本的历史有所启发。其中一个最有名的出租书店名为Daiso，其中有许多卷的歌舞伎文本是在名古屋地区。有人说，这些教科书是专门为出租目的而手抄的（当时所有的书都是这样）。在这项研究中，特别注意了文本的笔迹，并进行了调查，以找到这些文本的前所有者。在调查的过程中，人们发现剧院里的一些课本不知何故进入了出租店。在课本中，那些带有Sime签名的课本被证明是最有希望确定前主人的。但是，我仍然无法确定主人。另一方面，我得到了零星的新信息，如信件和备忘录，concening签名保持器。希望能对歌舞伎戏剧文本的分类和性质提出一个新的视角，并对某些文本的问世时间进行精确定位。一个典型的发现是发现了现存最古老的Kanadehonchusingura文本，并知道它是手写的时期。
