(1) Locally placed piezoelectric films (PVDF) near the creases are examined for the static shape control of folded deployable membrane. The effects of the geometry of the actuator, the driving voltage, and the tensile force in the membrane on the control performance are experimentally obtained.(2) Mathematical model for the creased membrane with PVDF is analytically introduced. The numerical results by the mathematical model indicated the effects of geometrical configuration of the crease equivalent length of the PVDF on the control properties.(3) Vibration characteristics to control creased membrane with PVDF are experimentally investigated.(4) To apply the PVDF for controlling inflatable structures, the structural properties of the inflatable structures are examined.
