金融政策の波及経路についての研究を行った。この研究では、90年代以降の日本の銀行における資産・負債構造と金融政策の関係について分析した。その結果、自己資本比率規制下や、銀行資本が縮小している局面では、これまで考えられていた銀行預金を通じた金融政策ではなく、銀行資本を通じた金融政策の波及経路を考慮する必要があることを明らかにした。そして、金融緩和によっても銀行貸出が増加しない場合があることを示した。この研究テーマは、経済理論面において、大きな貢献をなしうるとともに、実際の金融行政において有益な政策手段を提供しうるものと考える。また、劣後債を用いた市場規律と公的介入の関係についての分析を行った。近年の銀行規制において、劣後債を用いた市場規律が従来型の監督を中心とした銀行規制の役割を補完することが期待されている。その際重要になってくるのが、市場規律と公的介入をどのように関連付けるのかという点である。そこでこの研究では、情報の経済学や契約理論を用いてこの問題について考察した。そして、劣後債を用いた市場規律と公的介入を同時に行い、劣後債の価格付けが正当に行われるようにすることで望ましい状況を作り出せる場合と、劣後債を用いた市場規律のみを用いて、劣後債の価格の歪みを利用した規制枠組みを用いる方が望ましい状況を作り出せることを示した。また、自己資本比率規制と金融政策に関するサーベイ論文を執筆し、自己資本比率規制の重要性と問題点、それらが金融政策にどのような影響を与えるのかを展望・検討した。
