昨年度は,「1.連文間に適切な接続詞を挿入させる」,「2.接続詞の選択理由を口頭で説明させる」,「3.連文を意味を変えずに1文に要約させる」といった一連の課題を被験者に課すことによって,接続関係の処理手続きを包括的に解明するための実験的研究を行なった.そのうち,「1.接続詞選択」と「3.連文要約」の結果分析においては,選択された接続詞の類型毎に,その接続詞を持つ連文を要約するために用いられる方略(節並置・節埋め込み・格要素埋め込み・削除,等)に違いが見られた.本年度は,昨年度の成果を踏まえ,さらに,「連文要約」という作業状況において,それぞれの接続関係を持つ文が,どのような処理を受けるのかに焦点を当てた研究を行なった.具体的には,1つの文(対象文)に対して,その前後に様々な接続関係を持って接続される文(文脈文)を用意し,対象文と文脈文からなる連文を被験者に提示した.その連文を被験者に要約させることによって,同一の対象文が,どの文脈文を伴って提示されたときに,どのような要約処理を受けるのか,を分析した.その結果,対象文と文脈文が持つ接続関係によって,要約文全体における「並置型」と「埋め込み型」の出現比率,「並置型」の要約文における「順並び」と「逆並び」の出現比率,「埋め込み型」の要約文における「前文埋め込み」と「後文埋め込み」の出現比率に,それぞれ差が見られた.これら一連の結果は,連文の持つ接続関係によって,その連文全体の内的表象の性質が異なっていることを示唆している.以上の知見は,今後の文章要約研究における有効な手がかりとなり得るものであると考えられる.
