项目摘要

本研究は、18世紀から20世紀初頭にかけての、ロシア・ソヴィエトにおける日本と日本人のイメージが、どのように形成されたかについて、その一端を明らかにするものである。本年度は、前年度に行った基礎的な作業--たとえば19世紀から20世紀初頭のロシア・ソヴィエトでの日本人イメージ形成に関し、重要な情報源となった、長崎に来航した使節、軍人、商人らの手による、娼婦を含む日本人についての記録の収集と整理をロシアおよび長崎で行い、日露交渉史を視野におさめたことなど--を踏まえて、そうした情報がどのように文学テキストに表象されているかを考察した。具体的な作業としては、文学テキストを政治的力学の視点を導入しつつ分析することを通して、主に日本や日本人のイメージの変容と、それに関わる語りの転換の問題にアプローチした。収集した文学テキストの中から、ヴァレンチン・ピークリ作『オキヌさんの物語』に焦点を絞り、そのテキストに表象される日本や日本人、およびそれに関る語りの分析を軸とし、そこに他の文学テキストを絡める形で、日本や日本人のイメージ変容の流れを捉えた。『オキヌさんの物語』は、作品の舞台が、主にペテルブルグと長崎であり、長崎開港、日露戦争、ロシア革命という歴史的事件を素材に、ロシア海軍将校と日本人娼婦の間で展開される歴史ロマンの物語として、1980年に執筆された。日露の関係の変化に応じて、日本や日本人のイメージは変わり、それらが80年代のソヴィエトの視点から語り直されており、それぞれの政治的イデオロギーや力学が明確に反映されているという点で、本研究においては格好の分析対象であった。このテキストの分析から、オリエンタリズムのまなざし、コロニアルなまなざし、エキゾティシズムのまなざし、西欧との差異化によりロシアの独自性を誇示せんとするまなざし、そしてそれらが交差するところに、日本や日本人のイメージが、暴力的に、抑圧的に、一方的に語られるという構造が明らかになった。この成果については、次に記す雑誌論文として発表されている。なお、個々の作品で検討したことを、年代順もしくはテーマ別に編集するという作業も構想しているが、それは今後の研究課題としたい。
