1.Purpose and Plan of researchThe purpose of this study is to research a process of forming new assemblage of stone tools in Holocene in Far East Asia through examining the materials in that area concretely. For this purpose we prepared tow major viewpoints. One is a researching the stone instrument assemblage and the technical bases of the first half of Holocene in China, Mongolia, Northern Siberia, Far East, the Korean peninsula and Japan. The other is researching the development of stone source mine and the change of delivering system that supported a technical change and diffusion of a stone instrument.2.Research and publish the Results1)Study of micro-blade industry in the Enisei Valley, Eastern Siberia2)Technical analysis of wedge shaped micro-blade cores in Northern Kyushu, Japan3)Researching of micro-blade industries in Korea4)Chronological study of Paleolithic in Korea5)Researching of Neolithic stone tools in Southern Korea6)Making a list of site with obsidian tools in Norther … More n China, Inner Mongolia, the Korean peninsula and Maritime region of Russia7)Study on obsidian blades in Far East Asia-Focusing on Zaisanovka Culture in Maritime region, Russia-8)Chemical analysis of obsidian from Neolithic Sites in Southern Korea9)Study on stone sources and supplying system of stone materials in Kyushu, Japan10)Re-examination of stone tool manufacturing system in Early Jomon, Southern Kyushu, Japan3.Summary of results1)Researching of Paleolithic industry especially of Korea, it is considered that the formation of Upper Paleolithic in Far East Asia be regarded as appearance of stone spearhead as throwing hunting instrument2)Although the major change of stone tools in transitional period in Southeastern Far East Asia is characterized by a appearance of spear and arrow based on enlargement of forest flora, the appearance time and composition of tools vary in each region, especially because polished stone tools are affected by raw material strongly, they have local characteristics.
