平成15年度研究計画・方法に従い,極小論(ミニマリスト・プログラム)の観点から,次の二つの課題の遂行にあたった。(1)極小主義の観点から、音韻部門のもつ演算装置の解明を行う。(2)その結果考案された音韻部門のモデルが,他の領域(統語・形態部門と調音・知覚機構)とどのように関わっているか(インターフェイスの問題)を,英語を中心とした様々な現象を通して解明する。(1)に関しては,昨年度に考案した余剰性を排除した素性理論であるエレメント理論を用いて音韻的裸句構造の導入をおこない,できるだけ経済的な音韻演算装置の構築を試みた。具体的には,昨今の音韻研究で中心的理論と考えられている最適性理論同様の,派生単層構造を提案しながら,演算装置には,最適性理論とは異なる原理・パラメタ理論を取り入れたモデルを提唱し,音韻現象の説明を試みた。(2)に関しては,(1)で採用した音韻表示と他の言語部門や機構との関わりの解明を新たな視点から試みた。具体的には,音韻表示と調音・知覚機構との関わりを説明するに当たり,音声的補間という概念を取り入れ,従来問題とされてきた音韻表示の二重レベルを排除することと,個別言語特有の挿入現象に対する明確な説明を与えることが可能となった。(1)と(2)のいずれの研究も,昨年度同様,関連研究をおこなっている国内外の研究者(特に,ロンドン大学のJohn Harris教授,そして九州大学のPhillip Backley助教授)からの情報提供や意見交換を通して遂行された。上述の研究成果は,平成15年度にロンドン大学UCLで開催されたhe UCL Alumni Reunion Conferenceと,弘前大学で開催された第58回東北英文学会のシンポジウム(英語学部門)において,それぞれ「真正有声性が関わる音現象」と「音韻領域末に生じる音の音節構造」の分析を通して報告された.

(1)In this paper, we discuss the construction of phoneme calculation device in the field of phoneme theory. In particular, the theory of the center of phonological research in the past and the present has been examined. The theory of optimality is similar to that of the derivative layer structure. The calculation device has been proposed. The theory of optimality is different. The theory of phonology has been introduced. (2)(1) The use of phonemes to express other speech departments, institutions, and new perspectives. Specific, phonological expression, tuning, knowledge, mechanism, explanation, sound complement, concept, introduction, question, phonological expression, double, exclusion, individual speech specific, introduction phenomenon, explanation, possibility, etc. (1)(2) Information and opinion exchange between domestic and foreign researchers (Professor John Harris of Japan University and Assistant Professor Phillip Backley of Kyushu University). The above research results are reported in the 58th Tohoku English Society (English Department) UCL Reunion Conference held in Heisei University in 2005, including the analysis of "the phenomenon of real phonology" and "the syllable structure of phonology at the end of phonological domain."
