平成15年度の研究目標は、本年度前半に収集・整理された統計データと前年度に構築したサービス貿易と自由貿易協定の理論モデルを応用して、本研究の目的である、日本の自由貿易協定締結による協定国および周辺アジア諸国とのサービス貿易への影響を計量分析し、その成果をまとめることであった。そこで、近年特に顕著に見られる同一産業での双方向貿易(産業内貿易)の分析を、日本のサービス貿易に関して行うことにテーマを絞った。これに関連して、日本と韓国の産業内貿易を研究するため、平成15年12月に韓国の対外経済製作研究院(KIEP)から客員研究員として招聘され、当研究院にて北東アジア地域における産業内貿易の動向に関するセミナーを行った。成果として、サービス貿易の中でも、これまで特に研究が希少であった「自然人の移動によるサービス提供(第4モード)」に焦点を当てた論文を作成した("Intra-Industry Trade in Services : The Case of Japanese Mode4 Trade")。この論文では、自由貿易協定によってパートナー国のサービス供給者(自然人及びその提供者)に優先的な国内市場アクセスを認めることが、日本とアジア諸国とのサービス産業内貿易に与える影響を、日本のデータを用いて計量分析を行った。この論文は、平成15年5月中にワーキング・ペーパーとして発表し、6月中に海外の学術誌に投稿する予定である。
