项目摘要

昨年度に引き続き、ウェブからの包括的な地域情報抽出の枠組みの開発を進めている。ウェブ文書から抽出されたランドマーク情報をカーナビゲーションシステムの地図表示に利用する研究を進めた。認知的に顕著なランドマークの情報の抽出し、地理情報システム(GIS)の情報と結合させることによって、既存のGISが持たなかった新しい情報を付け加えている。さらに、近年、利用が拡大しているウェブ上のローカル情報検索インタフェースにおける地図表示にランドマーク情報を統合し、より見やすい地図の表示を実現した。本年度はウェブからのランドマーク情報の抽出手法を発展させた他、取得されたデータに基づく実用的なアプリケーションの実装を行った。また、これらの成果を国際会議ならびに国内外のワークショップにて発表した。さらに、海外において関連する研究を進めている研究者グループと積極的な情報交換を行い、国際シンポジウムの開催に着手した。本研究の成果として、地域情報の受動的閲覧インタフェース「車窓」の開発を進めた。これは、従来、ユーザ側からの積極的な情報入力を必要としてきた既存のウェブ地域情報閲覧システムを発展させたものとして、最小限の操作で地域情報を閲覧できるようにしているシステムであり、幼少者やコンピュータ操作に不慣れなユーザ、あるいは娯楽として地域情報の閲覧を行いたいユーザの使用を想定している。このシステムを京都市内の小学校において、「総合的学習の時間」の授業に導入し、修学旅行のプラニングに使用した。
