项目摘要

昨年度までの調査で得られた見解を、出版社からレフェリーに任命された専門家と議論して修正した後、オランダのBrill社より単行本として出版した。本年度はまた、上記著書の内容を内外の学会で報告し、本研究の対象であるバンテンとその周辺における現象が世界史的文脈の中でどのように位置づけられるのか、様々な専門の研究者と議論を深めた。マレー・西インドネシアにおける新たな交易ネットワークの展開は、従来は1780年代の第四次英蘭戦争に伴うオランダの衰退によって説明されていたが、本研究の述べる1760年頃からイギリスが対中貿易拡大の目的のために東南アジア貿易参入していたことが大きな要因であるとする議論は、内外の研究者にほぼ受け入れられた。また学会での議論を通じて、イギリスで当時発達する自由主義貿易の思想がイギリス人の東南アジアにおける貿易活動に反映していること、イギリスが世界貿易において主導的地位の確立する過程において東南アジアが一定の役割を果たしたことも確認された。もっとも、東南アジア産品はヨーロッパの貿易会社だけでなく中国系商人によっても運ばれたが、彼らがどのような出自・背景を持っているか、また中国と東南アジアの間に具体的にどのようなネットワークを構築していたかは今後の課題として残った。研究報告:-「18世紀バタヴィア(ジャカルタ)とその近郊における中国人コミュニティの変容」、国際ワークショップ「内陸圏・海域圏交流ネットワークとイスラム」、九州大学、福岡、2004年9月23,24日-「18世紀後半、東南アジア島嶼部における交易パターンの変容-広東貿易、アヘン、「海賊」のインパクト-」、海域アジア史研究会、大阪大学、豊中、2005年10月21日-‘‘Piracy' and inter-regional trade : pepper, birds' nests, and opium in the Sunda Strait Zone, c. 1750-1800, 'International workshop, ‘Ports, Pirates and Hinterland in East and Southeast Asia : Historical and Contemporary Perspectives,'上海科学院、上海、2005年11月10-12日

Last year's survey yielded insights, publishing houses published opinions, and publishers published opinions. This year, the contents of the book written above are reported by both inside and outside the society. The object of this study is to discuss the phenomenon of the circumference and the position in the context of world history. The fourth Anglo-Dutch war in the 1780s was accompanied by a decline in the development of new trade in China. This study was carried out in 1760.
