项目摘要

本研究は、東南アジアのメコン河下流域(メコンデルタ)における交易ネットワークの実態と初期国家が形成された過程を、考古学的に検証することを目的としている。なかでもネットワークの結節点となった港市オケオ(Oc Eo)を原点としてとらえ、メコンデルタの考古文化(オケオ文化)とアンコール王朝へと続く文化変遷に着目している。今まで行ってきた資料調査ならびに対象地域における踏査をふまえ、本年度においては、港市オケオの居住址であるゴートゥチャム(Go Tu Tram)遺跡の発掘および周辺に位置する諸遺跡の踏査を中心に調査を進めた。発掘調査に先立ち、昨年度に収集された基礎的な資料・地図・文献を整理し、データベース作成・分析を進めるとともに、メコンデルタ各地に広がる遺跡の地理的立地環境・分布状況の体系的な把握をおこなった。また、資料調査において特に興味深い発見の多かったガラス資料について、南シナ海海域世界を含めた広い範囲との比較調査を行い、その成果を研究発表および学術雑誌にて公表した。また土器資料に関する成果も発表し、ベトナム国内外にて精力的に意見交換を進め、大きな関心が寄せられた。以上の成果に基づき、9月に事前調査を行った後に、12月から2006年2月にかけてゴートゥチャム居住址の発掘調査を行った。当遺跡はオケオ文化でも最も長い時代にわたって居住が営まれていた重要な遺跡の一つであり、最下層は紀元前に遡る可能性が高い(現在C14炭素年代の測定中)。オケオ港市の成立期〜発展期(最盛期)〜衰退期・プレアンコール時代(寺院遺跡)という、約1000年にもわたる文化の展開が層位的に確認できたという、ベトナムでも初めての成果をもたらした。出土遺物はインド等の影響と共にメコンデルタ独自の特徴を備えており、古代港市オケオのもつ文化交流ネットワークの多様性と広がり・居住形態・土器生産の実態の裏付けができた。現在報告書を作成中であるが、これらの成果を基に、デルタ開拓・交易ネットワーク発展のモデル構築をさらに進めたい。
