近年、経済学を中心に、秩序を形成する心的機制についての理論的研究が盛んに行われているが、その多くにおいて、社会心理学がこれまで研究対象としてきた行動・認知の一貫性が、暗黙の前提とされている。これに対し本研究は、行動・認知の一貫性という個人の心的機制が、社会秩序の形成、すなわち集団内の相互協力状態の達成において果たす役割の検討を目的としている。前年度は、一次の協力行動と、非協力的な他者を罰する二次の協力行動の一貫性に焦点を当て、これらの行動が、特に集団内の相互協力状態を達成するために行われることを示し、英語論文と日本語論文を1本それぞれ執筆した。本年度は、この研究成果をさらに発展させ、集団内における一次の協力行動と二次の協力行動の一貫性は、協力のコストの上昇に対して頑健であるが、集団を超えた二次の協力行動は抑制されることを示す実験研究を行った。この論文は現在、審査付学術雑誌に投稿中である。また、本年度は認知の一貫性に焦点を当て、他者の協力行動に対する期待と自己の協力行動の関係が社会秩序の形成に重要な役割を果たしていることを示す実験研究を行った。多くの共同体では社会秩序を維持するために逸脱行動(非協力行動)を罰する制度がある。本研究は、こうした制度が機能する理由として、人々が罰を避けるためだけではなく、制度の下では他者が協力するだろうという期待が生じ、人々がこの期待と一貫した協力行動をとることによって期待が現実化するメカニズムがあることを検討した。実験室実験の結果、制度の効果(協力率の上昇)は他者の協力の期待によって媒介されていることが示された。これらの結果をもとに、シミュレーションの基本的構造を構築中である。この研究成果に基づき、本年度は英語論文を2本執筆し投稿中である。また、これまでの成果に関して、研究発表を7回(国内学会2回、国際学会・ワークショップ4回)行っている。
