项目摘要

研究課題通り、カンボジアの農村・農家に焦点を当てた研究を行った。本年は、主に契約栽培と農村内での社会関係に取り組んだ。前者について、契約栽培の意思決定と所得との関係を中心に研究した。が、この契約栽培は、複合契約の様相を呈しているため、計量的に示すには長期にわたるデータが必要であることは十分承知していたが、それ以外にも修正すべき点がいくつかあり今後の課題とする予定である。後者について、交換労働という農作業を媒介とした相互扶助的社会関係に対する農民の評価について研究した。本件は、東京大学農学部のセミナーで報告した。本件により、市場で取引される雇用労働力と比較し、カンボジア農民が農村内で主として行っている交換労働を相対的に高く評価していることが明らかにされた。そして、村内での結束など交換労働を使用することにより、社会関係に正の影響が与えられることを示した。また、日本農業経済学会で発表した「農村開発と農村金融」は、農家の信用取引の意思決定が自己の資産と切り離せないことを中心に論じた。カンボジアの場合は、主に土地がその資産に該当する。カンボジアでは、信用取引の多くが消費に回り、投資目的として利用されない実態がある。農村開発において生産性向上をもたらす支援策が望まれることも提言として盛り込んだ。この研究は、社会関係資本の事例としてしばしば取りあげられる農村での小口金融と関連しており、農村開発と農家の行動、農家の行動に影響を与える社会関係などに焦点をおいて将来の新たな研究につながるものと考えている。他にも研究中に抽出された新たな問題がある。それらは本研究課題を遂行する上で重要な事柄であり、今後の課題となる。例えば、交換労働が市場経済の進展とともに変容を示す中で、交換労働の定義が十分に議論されていないという問題等があり、現在研究中である。今後学会などで随時報告していく予定である。
