项目摘要

本研究は、懐徳堂学派を代表する中井履軒の天文学の特色ならびにその根底にある履軒の宇宙観ないしは世界観を明らかにすることを目的としている。まず、今年度は、昨年度に引き続き、履軒の宇宙観を支える経学的根拠を探るため、その膨大な経学研究の中でも、最もすぐれた注釈書の一つとされる『論語逢原』の訳注を行なった。一昨年度は『論語逢原』の序文の訳注を行なったが、今年度は「学而篇」の訳注を行ない、「訳注『論語逢原』(2)」(『京都産業大学論集(人文科学系列)』第35号、2006年3月)として発表した。本研究に対する科研費の交付は今年度で終了するが、この訳注作業は、来年度以降、引き続き行なっていきたいと考えている。また、この訳注作業をふまえて、「学而篇」に見られる履軒の『論語』注釈方法に見られる特色についてまとめた「中井履軒の『論語』注釈方法に関する一考察-『論語逢原』「学而篇」を中心に-」(『加地伸行先生古稀記念論集』、2006年3月刊行予定)を発表。履軒は、朱子の『論語』解釈に対して批判的であったことで知られるが、それが具体的にどのような形での批判であり、履軒の『論語逢原』は朱子の『論語集注』の何を切り捨てたのかについて検討した。そこでまず『論語逢原』「学而篇」に特徴的に見られる『論語集注』批判の語を取りあげ、次いで履軒の批判の論調やその背景にあるものについて考察を加えた。そして、履軒は、朱子のように『論語』ひいては経書全体を束ねる世界観や人間観というものをあらかじめ想定し、それに基づいて『論語』の各章の意味を捉えようとすることが、しばしばその解釈をあやまらせること、そしてそれを防ぐには個々のコンテキストを明らかにすることが何よりも重要であることを主張し、巨視的・体系的視点をもたないという方法によって『論語』を解釈しようとしていると結論づけた。
