今年度は昨年に引き続き「長崎旧記類」の調査収集・翻刻・内容の確認を行ない、そこに表れる長崎庶民の見た異文化認識を考察した。併せて同時代に活躍した作家井原西鶴の小説を分析し、大坂商人の眼から見た異国・異文化を考察した。これらの成果の一部は、H17年3月刊行『国文学解釈と鑑賞別冊 西鶴 挑発するテキスト』や、同4月刊行『文学研究』第93号他に発表し、高く評価されている。H16年度の主要な調査・分析は以下の通りである。(1)おもに長崎市立博物館所蔵の「長崎旧記類」に注目し、調査・収集を行なった。長崎県立長崎図書館の資料は大半の調査を終えていたが、今回の調査で市立博物館の資料調査もほぼ終了できた。また野母崎や長崎市内のフィールドワークを精力的に行ない、「長崎旧記類」の中で記述される具体的な史跡を実際に確認した。(2)(1)で収集した史料の書誌を取り、筆書写された年代を推定しながら内容を翻刻した。その際、官撰書の性格を持つ『崎陽群談』に注目し、それ以前に成立した「長崎旧記類」4種を取りあげて内容を比較し、「長崎旧記類」が成立する過程を考察した。官撰書ではない「長崎旧記類」を分析することで、長崎庶民の見た当時の異国像が浮かび上がると考える。今後も引き続きこの作業を行ない、長崎から見た異文化認識を分析する予定である。(3)(1)(2)と平行し、同時代に大坂を中心に活躍した大衆作家井原西鶴の小説を分析し、そこに表れる異国像を考察した。大坂商人の持つ情報源を駆使し、西鶴は異国商人を活き活きと肯定的に描いている。当時の大坂商人は異国商人に一種の憧憬を持っていたことが推察される。今後は「長崎旧記類」の翻刻作業を進めてさらなる内容分析を行ない、推定筆書写年をもとに「長崎旧記類」のより精密な系統分類を行ないたい。また上記(2)(3)であげた異国像を比較検討し、当時の長崎庶民と大坂商人が見た対外認識に相違があったのかを検討したい。
