项目摘要

昨年度の研究に引き続き、米国内ムスリムの政治動向についての米国での先行研究のサーベイと研究動向分析を行なった。先行研究のサーベイについては、国内の図書館等に資料がなく、新刊の洋書を多数購入する必要があった。米国内での資料・情報の収集については、平成18年3月に米国デトロイト近郊のディアボーンに滞在して行った。ディアボーンは米国内でも有数のアラブ系ムスリムが居住する地域であり、域内のイスラミック・センターおよび"Arab American National Museum"にて多数の展示資料をデジタルカメラで収集した。また域内のムスリム住民から米国ムスリムの現状等についてヒアリングを随時行なった。日本国内において、インターネットを利用した資料の収集とこれら資料の整理を行なった。これらの資料はインデックス化され、パソコンによってデータベース化を行なった。なおこの作業は現時点では完了しておらず、継続している。これら収集した資料に基づいて、研究論文「2004年米国大統領選挙における米国ムスリムの投票行動」(仮題)を現在作成中である。本論文が完成の後、「日本中東学会」で発表する意向である。また引き続き、2008年の米国大統領選挙に向けた米国ムスリムの政治動向についても観察を続けており、本研究で収集した資料とデータベースを活用して、研究論文にまとめていく意向である。これらの研究論文によって、米国ムスリム諸勢力の中東政策への影響度、および今後の米国の中東およびイスラーム地域政策の包括的な理解への一助となるであろう。
