本研究の目的は、看護基礎教育における国際看護学および実習についての目的・内容・方法や評価基準、また実習を実施・運営するにあたっての問題や課題について、その現状を明らかにすることにある。全国赤十字系看護大学・短期大学を対象に行ったH15年度に引き続き、H16年度は赤十字系以外の看護系大学を対象に、国際看護学・演習をカリキュラムに設置している大学から、協力の得られた4大学・教員4名を対象に面接調査を行い、さらに学生便覧,授業概要等の資料を収集した。全体的な内容分析から、国際看護学教育において演習の目的・訪問先によって、主に「学問志向型」、「実践志向型」、「学生個別のニーズに対応型」、「英語研修+看護研修」の4つに大別された。これらは専門領域としてカリキュラムの中に主に1-2単位の選択科目として位置づけられていた。一方、「英語研修+看護研修」については看護学の単位としてではなく、英語の単位として認めるものであった。分類別にみた国際看護学演習の問題と課題につい七は、(1)「学問志向型」:実習先の獲得が困難で、教員の個人的な海外活動の場や人脈を通して実習先を開発している。また独自に実習プログラムを訪問先の看護大学と共同で開発するにあたり、多くの時間を必要としている。講義・見学には必ず通訳が必要。訪問先の大学で、実習プログラムを用意し、通訳、訪問地での調整を一括して行っている大学を選定している場合もある。この場合、日本側の大学の意図がどこまで組み入れられているかが課題となっている。その他コストの削減に苦慮していた。(2)「実践志向型」:赤十字系の場合、訪問先の赤十字施設を通して行う場合もあるが、その他の場合(1)と同様に実習先の確保が難しい。教員の個人的な人脈と活動の場を通して、実習先を確保している。発展途上国を訪問する際には、特に学生の安全性と、現地で学生が健康障害を引き起こしたときの対応策を考慮していた。現地では英語以外が公用語のこともあり、実習は英語で行われている。(3)「学生個別ニーズの対応型」:上記同様実習先の確保が教員の人脈による。(4)「英語研修+看護研修」:多様性に富む既成の実習内容があるが、日本側の大学の意図を十分に反映するには限界がある。国際的に看護学の発展に貢献できる看護師を育成するためにも、基礎教育の中で各々の大学が、独自で特色のある実習内容を研鑽しながら、複数の大学間で協力し連携を取り、互いの学生に門戸を拡大していくことも検討していく必要があると考える。
