项目摘要

本研究の目的は、中央アフリカ熱帯雨林地域の文化的特性、特に、人間-自然関係における技法を、バナナとキャッサバを中心とした農耕と食をめぐる地域研究を通して考察することである。本年度は、昨年度までに収集した資料の整理、研究会における報告とディスカッション、論文の執筆をおこなった。まず、収集した文献資料と静止画と動画を含む映像資料の整理に経費を使用した。次に、国立民族学博物館共同研究「ドメスティケーションの民族生物学研究会」、京都大学大学院アジア・アフリカ地域研究研究科主催の国際シンポジウム「総合的地域研究の新地平-アジア・アフリカからディシプリンを架橋する」におけるサテライトワークショップ"The Making of Banana and Enset Areas in Asia and Africa"への参加など、情報と意見の交換をおこなった。さらに、沖縄のバナナの生産と流通に関する現地調査をおこない、バナナという作物の現代性を複合的に考察するための資料を収集した。執筆としては、地域史の叢書の一章として、「バナナとキャッサバ -中央アフリカの主食史」を執筆した。この中で、農業体系と加工の技術、食文化を総合して、中央アフリカの農業の2000年間の連続性と、新たな主作物の導入によるシステムの変更について分析した。農業技術の発展論では語られない、農業システムの連続性についての知見を示すことができたと考える。現在は、中央アフリカの農業史についての論文にとりかかり、バナナ栽培文化の地域間比較に関する英文論文の執筆も平行しておこなっている。
