鑑賞者における「認知」の問題から、対話相手の反応を想定しながら進んでいく話者間のコミュニケーションという視点からの作品解釈の可能性の模索へと、本年はさらに歩みを進めた。抽象化の途上、鑑賞者の反応が作品生成の一プロセスとして想定されていたことは、カンディンスキーの残したテキストからもうかがい知れる。研究は、抽象化が進んでいく過程での主題の重心の変化を、コミュニケーションにおける言語モデルになぞらえて分析していくという方向に進んだ。本年は「カンディンスキーの色彩理論とその実践」という論文を執筆した。モチーフなり図形なりが構成されて作品が編まれる場合、モチーフや図形は単語レヴェルのもので、構成がそれらをつかさどる文法ということになるが、このモデルでは色彩が抜け落ちてしまう。色彩もまた、それぞれに意味を帯びた作品構成要素だという発想は、彼の最初期の芸術理論にも表れており、バウハウスでは教授の実際に即して洗練されていく。本論文は色彩理論の変化・発展と、教授や実作における応用をミュンヘン時代とバウハウス時代を対比させつつ追ったものである。課題を究明するための方法において、その芸術をまずは狭義での記号論的視野から分析するところからはじめたが、最終的には色彩までもを含んだ広義の言語モデルへと進むことができた。このようにして得られた「抽象」の意味の変遷と深化のプロセスの分析が、もう少し適用範囲を広げて同時代の他の芸術家にも適用しうるのかどうかという点は今後の課題であろう。私自身はパウル・クレーやヨハネス・イッテンの作品・芸術思想・教育論との比較対比を行い、より広範な「抽象絵画」の概念を提起したいと考えている。今年度はスイス美術史研究所などを調査した。この調査は、今回の論文や研究課題全般に寄与するとともに、次の研究へつないでいく萌芽的な発想と見通しを与えてくれた。
