メッセージから好意が知覚されると受信者の協調的反応が促進されるが、特に非言語メッセージの意図短資にはネガティビティ・バイアスが生じやすいことが示されている(佐々木・大渕、2002)。本研究では、メディア・コミュニケーションの協調性を検討やるため、メディアを介して伝達されるメッセージの認知バイアスのメカニズムを探った。好色的意図が知見されにくいという認知バイアスは、電話型会話とTV電話型会話のように言語・非言語メッセージが連合処理されるメディアにおいて生じ、映像を伴うメールのように言語・非言語メッセージが非連合に処理されるメディアにおいては生じないことが示されている(佐々木、2005a)。連合処理型のメディアでは、言語情報の処理能力が低い方が、非言語メッセージをネガティブに知見しやすいことからも佐々木、2005b)、情報処理システム漣胎a理型・搦吏胎便R型)と受信者の間轍回Hの能力がメッセージの認知バイアスに影響することが予想された。本研究の実験では、情報処理システム要因として、連合処理型メディア音声、音声+映像)と非連合処理型メディア(メール+映像)の3水準、被験者の言語処理能力として日本語版RSTが測定され(苧阪、2002)、高RST、低RSTの2水準が設定された。これら2要因と非言語メッセージの認知バイアスの関連を検討するため、非言語メッセージの好意性(ポジティブ、ネガティフ)を要因とし、意図の好意性知見を従属測度として実験を行った。その結果、連合処理型のメディアでは言語処理能力によって非言語メッセージの好意性知覚にバイアスが生じることが示さ、非連合処理型のメディアではこのバイアスが見られなかった。これらの結果から、非言語メッセージによってメディア・コミュニケーションの協調性を促進するためには、受信者の言語処理の認知的負荷を低くすることが必要だと結倫づけられた。
