植物は、病原菌との遭遇に際し,抵抗性反応を誘導し、元来病気かからない。病気にかかるのは、例外的な出来事である。本研究では、この抵抗性誘導を抑制する病原菌側の因子を特定し、さらにこれに結合する植物の因子を発見し、この因子の抵抗性誘導分子への結合の特異性により、抵抗性反応のオン,オフが決定されることを明らかにし、これらの因子の改変で抵抗性反応を常にオンにすることによる新しい植物病害防除の戦略を示すことが出来た.
