The 2004 Mid Niigata Prefecture earthquake, also known as the 2004 Niigata Prefecture Chuetsu earthquake occurred on October 23, 2004 at 17 : 56. The traditional industry such as Ojiya-chijimi was in a critical situation from the lack of hands.A strong earthquake occurred on 10 : 13, July 15, 2007 at Niigataken Chuetsu-oki. In and around Kashiwazaki, it is observed that the seismic ground motion was the intensity 6 upper. New topics such as Kashiwazaki-Kariwa nuclear power plants were taken up for discussion.
