The study aims to examine sustainable urban forms in Japan that affronts rapid aging and population reduction. The main researches and studies :Recent academic debates in Japan and western countries about sustainable urban forms focusing compact city ;Typical regional planning and urban regeneration policies and projects and in Europe related with regional urban forms ;Accumulative tendency of the knowledge-based service industries and location factors of Japan and Korea;Urban spatial structure of Nagoya region using statistical data;Sustainability of suburban housing areas focusing on the conditions of blank lots and empty houses, and accounts and desires of inhabitants in Nagoya Region.
