コーチングに関する研究は、種目間の共通性を探求する視座と、種目ごとの特殊性を探求する視座とに分けられる。しかし、先行研究をみると、トレーニングの内容・方法については、種目共通性や種目特殊性について相当数の研究蓄積があるが、チームマネジメントの内容・方法についてはそこに至っていない。そこで、本研究では、コーチのチームマネジメント機能に着目し、種目共通性と種目特殊性とを検証した。なお、本研究では、「一程度の普遍性」があると考えられるジュニア期(高等学校期)のコーチングを研究対象とした。さて、本研究では、平成17年度にチームマネジメントに係るコーチの為すべき機能の精査を実施している、平成19年度はその結果を踏まえ、チーム内外にあった状況変化とコーチのチームマネジメント様相の変容との関連について検証した。なお、「様相の変容」は、調査方法の制約により、各回答者の内省によって測定した。その結果、まず、全体として、チームマネジメントの様相に変容があったコーチは約40%、変化の無かったコーチが約60%であったが、種目差がみられ、個人種目のコーチの方が「様相が変容したコーチ」が多かった。なお、最も「様相の変容」が顕著であったチームマネジメント要素は「対外行動」と括られる機能であったが、これについては種目差はなかった。次に、「様相の変容」と「チーム内外にあった状況変化」との関連を検証したところ、「規模の拡大(部員数の増加)」との間に関連が見られた。他方、「部員の気質変化」「保護者の気質変化」「学校の方針の変化」などとの間には関連がみられなかった。なお、これらの傾向についても種目差はみられなかった。今後は、チーム成績の推移を踏まえた検証を行い、コーチのチームマネジメントに関する普遍原理の構築を図りたい。
