2007年12月〜1月、および2008年3月、計2度の現地調査を実施した。本研究課題においては、ジャワ島のヒンドゥー教、仏教の寺院建築遺構を対象として、当時の建築プランナーにより考案されていたと考えられる"尺"、すなわちモノサシの長さの検討など、建築の形態やプロポーションを成り立たせる具体的な技法、技術、あるいは計画的な側面に新たな光をあてることが主眼となる。平成17〜18年度に行った実測・分析にて、中部ジャワ北部山間地に所在する7世紀後半〜8世紀前半創建の遺構群と、創建年代の下る中部ジャワ南部平地に残されたヒンドゥー・仏教の寺院建築遺構について、肘尺の実長が370〜420mmの可能性が高いことが判明した。そして平成19年度に実施したボロブドゥール遺跡の実測・分析の結果として、約370mmの肘尺が抽出され、全体の傾向として、時代が下るにつれて漸次肘尺が短くなる傾向が認められる。中部ジャワ北部に初発的に勃興したヒンドゥー王朝の担った建築の造営活動と、その後中部ジャワ南部に展開し、ボロブドゥールおよびプランバナン寺院を造営した諸王朝との連続性が、造営尺度という観点から裏付けられる結果となった。また、2006年5月のジャワ島中部地震で損壊を受けたプランバナン遺跡群については、文化遺産国際協力コンソーシアムの修復支援事業に専門家として参画し、過去の修復記録や古写真データを収集・分析し、遺跡の修復履歴・保存修復史についてまとめる作業を実施したが、本作業は、本研究課題で筆者が採取した遺跡の寸法データの信頼性の確認に意義を有するものであった。

From December 2007 to January, March 2008, two field surveys were conducted. This research topic focuses on the specific techniques, techniques, and plans for the construction of Buddhist temples and temples in the island.
