医療に対する「患者満足度」という概念の重要性については近年多くの医療関係者が認めており、関心の高まつているテーマである。精神科領域でも患者に対する処遇の改善や環境の改善が熱心に行われており、また、退院促進活動と関連して効果的な医療の利用が促進されている現在、患者による精神科医療の評価は、今後さらに広く試みられる必要がある。そこで、精神科疾患を有する患者の患者満足度に影響を与える因子を明らかにするために、平成17年度から平成18年度にかけて、精神科の入院医療を利用したことのある者に対し、インタビュー調査を実施した。調査対象は、精神科の入院医療を利用したことのある者で、研究協力に同意した者である。研究協力者は、調査対象者に次の対象者の候補となる者を紹介してもらう、精神科疾患を有する人の利用する施設等で募集するなどして研究者がアクセスすることのできた者である。調査の実施にあたり、研究の主旨と、研究への協力は自由意思によるものであり、答えたくないことを答える必要はないこと、いつでも協力を取り下げることができることを対象者に口頭および文書にて説明し、文書による同意を得た。また、インタビュー時に対象者から許可を得ることができた場合にはインタビュー内容を録音した。本研究で対象となった全ての者がインタビュー内容の録音に同意したため、その音声データを逐語録にした。対象者によって語られた内容を継続的に比較し、分析を行った。その結果、患者の精神科入院医療に対する満足に関連する要因として、医療者との関係性、疾患や症状の改善、入院環境や治療の構造などが抽出された。
