In this decade - the genome and the post genomic era -, the information concerning the life science enormously increased due to the rapid development of the molecular biology study of the genes and the proteins. It meant that so called "information explosion" occurred in the life science field, and the data driven discovery became mainstream. Previously, the data which had been owned by the researcher was stored in notebooks or personal computers, at this moment, with the penetration of the internet, the data digitization and the resulting disclosure worked out in the laboratory. As a result, most experimental data was maintained in databases, and the condition which anyone can access and use the database was in place. The knowledge from the life science is necessary for human beings to live better lives, for example medical or environmental issues. To share research derived knowledge, further communication should be made between people in research fields and general public. However, because of the life science research is highly specialized and segmentalized fields, the knowledge from the life science domain is hard to understand for a non specialist, and even for a specialist. And because English is the main language of life science documents, there are disadvantage those people whose first language is not English to obtain up to date information. To give an example, many diseases related genes have been discovered, when the human genome sequence was published, but the knowledge about the causes of the disease has not be used for everyone to understand it. Therefore, in this research, I proposed that the research about the linguistic resources and information systems what we need for the improved science communication for life science, and developed required resources, like dictionary and ontology and explanatory documents. Study results from the research were used for Japanese biology portal site "Jabion" (http://www.bioportal.jp).
