北海道の後期旧石器時代の集団は、石器石材の90%以上を黒曜石か頁岩に依存している。本研究ではこのうち黒曜石製旧石器を保有する集団の季節移動、移動領域、石材供給などについて研究を行った。後期旧石器前半期において、該期の集団は黒曜石原産地を移動経路の途中に取り込み、かなり広い領域内を移動していることが、黒曜石原産地推定と黒曜石石材の遺跡内消費のあり方から推測することが出来た。
