わが国の人口の将来予測について、従来から行われている上位、中位、下位の予測に代えて、コーホート要因法に時系列分析の確率的予測の方法を組み合わせて、信頼区間を推計する研究を行った。その結果、国立社会保障・人口問題研究所の予測よりも幅の広い予測域となることがわかった。そのほか、同様の手法と各種の経済変数についての予測や前提を組み合わせて、ベトナムとタイの公的年金制度の維持可能性について警鐘となるような結論を得ることができた。
