项目摘要

本研究は、住民主体による介護予防事業を運営している前期高齢者に着目し、前期高齢者にとって介護予防事業を運営するとはどのようなことなのか、その意味を探求することを目的とした。0地区の前期高齢者にとって、介護予防事業を運営するとは、『後期高齢者が自分らしく生きていくために経験を発揮すること』であった。0地区の前期高齢者は、【後期高齢者が自分らしく生きていくことを支える】ために、<年中行事を生かす><区長や男性役員をたてる><先輩をたてる>地区の者同士<協調し合う>を内包した【地区の中での社会性を生かす】、【ボランティアや仕事の経験を生かす】【主婦による経験を生かす】【老いによる経験を生かす】という4つの経験を発揮していた。後期高齢者が自分らしく生きていくことを支える理由として【一般化された互酬性の規範】【後期高齢者への敬い】、自身の【老いを価値づけられる】【地区で生活している自分を確認できる】【自身の将来の居場所をつくる】という5つの動機づけがあった。前期高齢者は、【一般化された互酬性の規範】【後期高齢者への敬い】【自身の将来の居場所をつくる】を動機として、【後期高齢者が自分らしく生きていくことを支える】ために経験を発揮し、その行為を通じて、後期高齢者に喜んでもらえること、そして、後期高齢者が自分らしく生きていくことで、【老いを価値づけられる】【地区で生活している自分を確認できる】という自身の価値づけができるのである。そして、このことが前期高齢者の糧となり、後期高齢者が自分らしく生きていくための惜しみない、さらなる努力や経験の発揮につながるという前期高齢者と後期高齢者の相互作用の構造になっていた。すなわち、前期高齢者は、後期高齢者が自分らしく生きていくことで、自身もまた老いを価値づけ、自分らしく生きていくことができることが明らかとなった。
