项目摘要

二〇〇七年八月末より二〇〇八年七月初めまで、プリンストン大学(Princeton university)宗教学部のジャックリーヌ・ストーン教授(Jacqueline I. Stone)のご紹介で、同大学宗教研究所(CSR Center for studies of Religion)の研究員として、滞在した。また二〇〇九年一月下旬より三月下旬まで、指導いただいている京都大学人文科学研究所の船山徹准教授がハーバード神学校(Harvard Divinity School)にて講義されるのに伴い、アメリカに滞在し、空海とも関わる中国・日本の教判についての研究を、研究論文を参照しつつ、ハーバード大学イエンティン図書館にて行った。この間の日本滞在中には、昨年度より引き続いて、船山徹准教授が主催される「真諦三蔵とその時代」という研究班に参加し、インド・中国両文化にわたる訳経とその周辺事業を読解・調査することで、訳経事業とはどのようなものであるのかについて知見を深め、そこで真諦が著わした『明了論疏』の読解を行った。また同様に同研究所の麥谷邦夫教授が主催される「三教交渉の研究(2)」という研究班に参加し、道教金石文の読解を通じて、中国における三教交渉についての理解を広めている。また二〇〇八年七月にはソウル大学で開催された第22回世界哲学会議(WCP)にて「空海と言語哲学」という題にて発表を行い、各国の哲学研究者との質疑応答を行った。同年九月こは日本史研究会例会において、空海の顕密概念に端を発する、黒田俊雄氏の顕密体制論についての再検討について発表を行い、日本史研究者と交流を行った。
