项目摘要

現在、テーマに沿ったトピックの選択に苦慮しているのが実状である。これまで、以下の二つの観点からのアプローチを試みた。まず、言説と物質の交錯地点に存在する「胎児」に着目して、両者からどのような介入が行われているのかを検討した。しかし、胎児の生物学的・医学的研究の内容と、現代社会における妊娠・胎児にまつわる言説、そして個々人の妊婦たちが語る妊娠という身体経験の相互作用をうまく解読できないまま、妊産婦たちのライフヒストリーに引き込まれて、本来の「言説と物質の交錯地点の探求」がかすんでしまった。二つ目のアプローチでは、単なる身体内部の作用ではなく、社会的に構成される「病」に着目して、戦後の日本における新聞の健康相談記事の内容の変遷をたどることで、より広義に、物質が言説に、そして言説が物質に影響を与える過程の分析を試みた。しかし、ここでも一つ目のアプローチと同様の問題が生じた。記事の内容は、相談者が語る身体経験と、回答者の下す医学的なアドバイスによって構成されている。回答のみに着目した場合、将来的により重大な疾病につながるであろう「状態」が、漸次的に「疾病」として医学的事実として構築されていく過程をみることはできる。しかし、これをもって単純に言説と物質の相互作用・相互規定の歴史とまとめることはできない。相談者の語る「心身の不調」という身体経験の変化は見えにくく、疾病と身体観の二重奏の変遷とシンクロしているか否か分析しきれないでいる。ミクロな視座が、いかに物質的な疾病構造の転換とリンクしているのかが見えてこないのである。以上のような試みと挫折を経た上で、今後の研究継続において必須なのは、本来のテーマからぶれないために、基礎となる視点を確立することだと認識できた。ジェンダーと生物学の対話において、両者がなぜ相手の知見を汲み取ることができないかという構造的問題を見つめなおす作業を通して、新たなトピックを探していきたい。
