项目摘要

この研究では、フィリピン諸語とりわけタガログ語の談話を観察することで、フィリピン諸語に特有のヴォイスシステムとされるフォーカスシステムの特徴および機能の解明に取り組んだ。具体的には、フィリピン共和国においてフィールドーワークを2回・合計6週間の長期にわたって行い、談話の録音、文字起こし、分析を行った。研究成果としては、以下のものがある:(I)タガログ語の指示表現。タガログ語の指示表現には、名詞句、人称代名詞、指示代名詞、ゼロ代名詞があるが、この研究では、この指示表現に「好まれるパターン」が存在し、そのパターンが人称および主題性の二つのパラメターによって支配されていることを指摘した。すなわち、言語行為参与者および三人称トピックは人称代名詞で指示される傾向があるが、三人称非トピックはゼロ代名詞または指示代名詞で指示される。さらに、このパターンがヴォイス現象やリファレンストラッキングという機能まで持つことも主張した。(II)タガログ語の情報構造。タガログ語のフォーカス・システムはかねてより情報構造との関わりが指摘されてきた。この関連について、この研究では次のような発見をした:タガログ語では異なる焦点構造に異なる構文を用いる。広焦点構造にはcanonical constructionを、項狭焦点には分裂構文を、そして付加詞狭焦点には前置構文を用いる。この結果、タガログ語においては焦点の当たっている要素が常に節の一番前にくることが明らかになった。(III)タガログ語の自他交替。本研究では聞き取り調査も行い、タガログ語の自他交替ためのメカニズムとしてフォーカスシステムを分析した。
