後方への転倒時における高齢者のスクワット動作についてバイオメカニクス的分析を行った結果、高齢者の後方への転倒時のスクワット動作は、若年者に比べて膝及び腰関節の反応時間が遅く、足関節が伸展し、膝関節が伸びた状態のまま、腰関節を中心に行う動作であることが明らかになった。また、足及び膝関節を大きく早く背屈、屈曲させるスクワット動作を16週間練習することによって、若年者の値に近づくことが実証された。
