従来触媒では達成できない新規ポリオレフィンの精密合成を可能とする高性能分子触媒の設計・創製や合成したポリマーの構造・特性解析を主目的として課題に取り組み、期間内に以下の特筆すべき成果を得た.(1) エチレンとかさ高い置換基を有する1置換オレフィンや2置換オレフィン、環状オレフィンとの共重合体の高効率精密合成手法の確立、(2) 官能基化ポリオレフィンの精密合成新手法の提案と新規ポリマーの創製、(3) 高性能分子触媒の創製と重合機構の解明.
