硬質薄膜の表面強度特性を超加速試験にて皮膜, 基材と界面に分離して評価できるマイクロスラリージェット(粒子径1μm程度のセラミックス粒子を含む水噴流)による薄膜評価法(MSE法)の確立を目指して, 装置開発と試験評価法の両面から研究した。その結果, MSE評価法は膜質だけでなく膜と基材との界面での性質を高感度・高信頼性で評価できること, また従来の国際的に知名度が高い薄膜評価法に対しても優位性を持つことが明らかになった。
