糖尿病には,膵ラ氏島のインスリン産生細胞(β細胞)が深く関わっている.本研究では,インスリン産生細胞の分化誘導モデルとしてAR42J細胞を用い,β細胞の分化過程と糖負荷刺激におけるアポトーシス抑制遺伝子Mcl-1の動態を解析した.その結果,β細胞への分化過程,ならびに高濃度の糖負荷刺激に伴って誘導されるアポトーシスの抑制に,Mcl-1遺伝子の発現が密接に関わっていることが明らかとなった.
