项目摘要

本研究は、「統語構造」(日本語の文の構造)という観点を導入し、日本語の文法変化の特徴、一般性を追求していくことを目的にしている。この研究目的のもと、本年度は主に、「やら」「なり」「たり」などの例示を表わす形式についての研究、及び、日本語の助詞「か」の歴史についての研究を行った。前者では、疑問の助詞、コピュラの助動詞、アスペクトの助動詞など、多様な意味を持つ形式がどのように例示を表わすようになったのかを、構文的変化とともに考察し、論文にまとめた。後者の研究では、日本語の助詞「か」は、歴史を通して直接疑問を表すのに使用されるが、古代語では間接疑問としては使われないことが知られており、その原因について、「か」の他の新しい用法の発生とともに調査、考察した。従来は、「か」が間接疑問として使われないことについては、機能的な観点からの説明はあったが、「か」は、間接疑問だけではなく、選択、不定、例示など名詞句としての特徴を持たなかったことに着目し、これらの諸用法の発達を構文的な観点から調査、研究した。その具体的な成果として、本年度は、「か」の不定、間接疑問についてそれぞれ国際学会で発表を行った。「か」の不定については、2008年11月にニューヨーク市立大学で行なわれたThe 18th Japanese Korean Linguistics Conferenceにおいて、日本語の「やら」、韓国語のmues-in-kaと比較しながらその歴史変化を詳しく分析した。間接疑問文の「か」については、UCLAで行なわれたWorkshop on East Asian Linguisticsにおいて発表し、特にその意味が、「主観的」な意味から「客観的」な意味へ変化していることを示した。
