项目摘要

4～5月にかけては,本申請研究の理論的支柱となる知見をまとめた論考を論文として完成させた。この論文では,都市の文化行政が醸成すべき都市の文化とは何であるのか,M・カステルの学説研究を通してその彫琢を行なった。明らかになったことは,都市文化行政が追求する文化とは一般的な意味での芸術ではなく,都市空間,コミュニティの総合からなる「日常生活」の総体を指摘するカステルの主張であった。こうした視点は都市内の格差が拡大し,文化行政が経済力のある人々のみを対象にしがちな現代社会の趨勢において有用な知見となった。6～8月にかけては,調査対象地であった横浜の創造都市行政の分析をまとめるとともに,American Sociological Associationでの成果報告のための準備を行なった。成果として示されたことは,近年の横浜の創造都市行政は,1960年代以降の日本の自治体文化行政とは異なる先進的な施策が展開されているが,グローバルな権力関係のなかで少なからぬデバイドが生み出されているという現実であった。9月以降は,これまでの理論的成果と調査成果の融合を量るべく,最終的な検討作業を進めた。なお派生的な成果として,都市の文化を検討する上での必読文献であり,また本研究が中心的に依拠してきた著作であるデヴィッド・ハーヴェイの『ポストモダニティの条件』の著作紹介となる論考を執筆した。この作業によって,これまで以上に本研究が追求してきた都市の文化と都市の文化行政に関する検討が深められ,より深化した観点から事例を見つめ直すことが可能となった。
