(1)1895年の日本による台湾領有により、日本ははじめて植民地教育の実施に踏み切ることになる。植民地教育の実施にあたっては、海外の植民地教育の事例に関する情報が収集されるとともに、同時代的に形成途上にあった日本国内の近代教育の方法が流用されるに至る。そのキーワードのひとつが「国家教育」という言葉である。本研究では、1890年代に現れた「国家教育」論に注目した。教育史学会第52回大会の口頭発表では、「国家教育」の実現を標榜していた国家教育社の活動に注目し、とりわけ地域の活動を支えていた社員たちが、どのような「国家教育」観を持っていたかを明らかにした。(2)また、1890年代の「国家教育」論には、地域の教員・教育関係者による多様な主張を含んでいた。日本教育学会『教育学研究』掲載論文は、1890年に大日本教育会の主催で開かれた全国教育者大集会の議論を検討し、その多様な様態を明らかにすると同時に、大集会における多様な「国家教育」論が、国家教育社の掲げる「国家教育論」へと収斂していく過程を明らかにした。(3)以上の2つの研究成果、および前年度の研究成果を踏まえ、『日本の教育史学』第51集掲載論文において、台湾へ教育勅語が導入されていく過程を実証的に明らかにした。また、その前提として、「国家教育」を標榜し、教育勅語の普及に尽力していた国家教育社における活動の経験が存在していたことを指摘した。
