論文"Twin Deficits Revisited: Does the U.S. Fiscal Consolidation Help to Reduce the Current Account Deficit?"では,2001年以降,財政赤字と経常収支赤字の「双子の赤字」が再び表れてきていることを踏まえて,財政再建が行われる場合に,経常収支がどのように変化するかを,構造形ベクトル自己回帰モデルに基づいて分析した。その結果,財政収支が3%改善するとしても,経常収支は1%程度までしか改善しないことが判明した。そのほか,プラザ合意時と同様のドルの下落が生じる場合について検討すると,経常収支が2.5%改善することが分かった。したがって,米国の経常収支赤字が許容可能な水準に縮小するためには,大規模な財政再建と同時に,ドルの為替相場調整が不可避である。この論文は,論文集Empirical Study on Asian Financial Marketsの第6章に収められているほか,2007年11月にクアラルンプールで開催された国際学会"The 19th Asian-Pacific Conference on International Accounting Issues"で報告された。高村多聞氏,渡辺努氏との共著論文である"Optimal Monetary Policy under Imperfect Factor Mobility"では,生産部門間の資本移動が収益率の格差に対して不完全にしか反応しないという状況の下で,生産物の間の相対価格が大幅に変化するようなショック(供給ショック)に対する金融政策の最適反応について検討した。その結果,収益率格差に対する資本移動の反応が鈍い場合,より大幅な金融緩和が最適になることが求められる。これは,不完全な資本移動が金融政策に対して負荷をかける可能性を示唆する点でユニークである。この論文は,日本応用経済学会2007年度春季全国大会と"Singapore Economic Review Conference 2007"で報告された。

Twin Deficit Revisited: Does the U.S. Fiscal Consolidation Help to Reduce the Current Account Deficit? "Since 2001, the fiscal deficit and the deficit of regular revenue expenditure have been reduced. In the case of fiscal reconstruction, the deficit of regular revenue expenditure has been changed. The structural model has been analyzed. As a result, fiscal expenditure improved by 3%, while economic expenditure improved by 1%. In the case of a drop in the same category, the average daily expenditure is 2.5% improved. In addition, the United States 'current account deficit is likely to shrink, and large-scale fiscal reconstruction is inevitable. This paper was published in Chapter 6 of Empirical Study on Asian Financial Markets, published in November 2007 as a report of The International Society "The 19th Asian-Pacific Conference on International Accounting Issues." Takamura and Watanabe's co-authored paper "Optimal Monetary Policy under Imperfect Factor Mobility" discusses the optimal response of financial policy under the condition that capital movement between production sectors is not completely related to the difference in income ratio, and the relative difference between production sectors is greatly changed. As a result, the ratio of income to capital movement is relatively low, and the financial easing is optimal. The possibility of incomplete capital movement for financial policy is discussed. This paper was presented at the "Singapore Economic Review Conference 2007" of the Japan Economic Review Society Spring 2007.
