調査対象国における在来家畜およびそれらの野生原種や近縁野生種を対象に、一般外貌形質、経済形質、毛色、管理システム等を調査した他、血液採取を実施し、現地大学において血液からDNA の抽出を行い、一部の家畜については血液蛋白多型や血液型分析を行った。また文化人類学的調査を通じ、在来豚を遊牧させながら生活を維持している人々が保有する独特な家畜飼養文化を調査した。これらの調査・分析を通じ、バングラデシュの在来家畜および野生原種の現状を把握した。
