台所計画の一指標として収納空間の標準化を約30年にわたって追究してきた。1990年^(2))に提案した必要総収納容積が、食生活・社会状況の変化により今日でも妥当か否かを検討した結果、所有率が高い品目の増加、使用頻度(週間使用率)の減少などがあるが、標準所有品目には大きな変化はなく、最低基準(適正)として利用し得ることを明らかにした。
