この研究においては、最近インターネット上で無料で使用可能となっている様々なコミュニケーションツールを用いて、国境を隔てて繋ぐクラスベースの遠隔教育に焦点をおいて、実際にそういったツールを活用して実験授業を行うことにより、課題等の認識、及び、解決策を見出すといったアクションリサーチ研究方法により、その可能性を追求した。また、授業方式として、従来の講義中心の授業ではなく、学生に主体性を持たせるプロジェクト型授業による遠隔教育の学習デザインを探求した。
