ウイルス気道感染によって喘息が悪化するメカニズムに関与している分子(プロスタグランジンD2とその受容体CRTH2)とを発見し、それを阻害する薬が喘息悪化の予防に使用できる可能性を明らかにした。また、これらの分子が別の肺疾患(肺線維症)の病態を修飾していることも明らかにしたが、その詳細な機序については引き続き検討中である。
