MIF(マクロファージ遊走阻止因子)は、自然免疫を司る上流因子として知られるが、最近様々な疾患の発症や進展に関わりが深い分子である事が数多く報告されている。本研究では、MIFが、MIF 受容体や幾つか関連分子(CD74 など)と結合した結果生まれる情報伝達が、腎臓疾患に関わる機構を明らかにする事を試みた。糸球体硬化症の動物モデルであるマウス腎症やシクロスポリン腎症のモデルを用いてMIF の腎炎における役割を研究を進める中、シクロスポリン腎症における新たな病態と治療法開発の可能性についても解明し得た。
