Analysis on impact of community-based putreach activities on infant mortality rates in Zambia

这项研究旨在分析距离受益者最近的外展卫生服务对降低赞比亚城市周边地区婴儿死亡率和发病率以及照顾者健康行为的影响。采用队列调查的方法，对干预区和控制区的死亡率和发病率进行分析。对目标婴儿进行月度监测，从6个月到11个月大。采用KAP问卷调查两个地区照顾者的行为变化。这些调查是在干预开始时进行的，作为基线数据，在干预结束时进行。干预地区疟疾死亡率和发病率均有不同程度的提高。结果表明，外展健康活动被认为是改善婴儿健康状况的有效干预措施。

This research aims to analyze impact of outreach health services that is located to closest to beneficiaries on the reduction of infant mortality and morbidity rates as well as health behavior of caretakers in peri-urban area in Zambia. Cohort survey was adopted to analyze the mortality and morbidity rates in intervention and control areas. The target infant was followed from 6 to 11 month-age with a monthly monitoring method. Behavioral change of the caretakers was assessed with KAP survey in both areas. The surveys were conducted in the beginning of the intervention as baseline data and the end of the intervention. The mortality rates and incident rated of malaria were improved in the intervention area. The result shows the outreach health activities are considered effective interventions to improve health condition of the infant.
