肝切除・膵切除症例を主な対象にした臨床試験が行われた。前向き比較試験として周術期血糖管理が人工膵臓で行われ人工膵臓群とスライデイング・スケール法で行われたコントロール群との2群に分別した。2間の背景因子に有意差はなかった。肝切除・膵切除共に人工膵臓はコントロール群に比べてsurgical site infection が有意に抑制されただけでなく、肝切除では術後入院期間の短縮と入院コスト削減にも効であった。研究成果は12編の論文公表された。
